You're going to want a Drug-free answer!
You could have higher blood pressure which is breaching a superficial vein in your nose. Be on the lookout for something called preclampsia.

If you have normal blood pressure you might have pregnancy-induced rhinitis. (Pregnant sniffles) You might try a saline nasal RINSE (not a spray) A full warm water saline rinse goes in one nostril and out the other. It draws out all the gunk and shrinks the tissue (like swimming in the ocean).

The buffered salt doesn't 'sting' as much as plain salt water. You can use a new method like Nasopure, or the vintage, Netipot. In pregnant women, this occurs at some point 90% of cases.

You can do this a often as you like with no bad side effects.

You don’t need a prescription for this therapy. So if you live in a state like mine, they’ve pretty much “outlawed” sudafed medicine. Drug-free is really the way to go on a frequent-use basis.

This is a fairly common and generally harmless problem in pregnancy. It is listed under common side effects or normal discomforts in many texts.
It has to do with the general increase in blood volume. The gums and cervix may also bleed more easily.
It is aggravated by cold weather and by the dryness indoors due to heating systems. A cool mist humidifier in your bedroom can help. Plain saline nose drops also decrease dryness and are safe to use -- there is no medication in them.
Avoid blowing your nose hard, rubbing it, or picking at it.
Mention it to your doctor or midwife to see if they have any other ideas for you.

Ok this one I just asked dr yesterday. He said nose bleeds are normal this time of year if you are pregnant. Due to dry air and extra blood putting pressure on the body. He advised that if it was frequent to use a saline inhailer to keep nasal area moist. Not sure what he considered frequent since I have only had 2 in two weeks.

The What to Expect When You're Expecting book says that nose bleeds are common as well as bleeding gums...just wonderful aspects of pregnancy that people don't tell you about *grin*

it is quite common for pregnant women to get nosebleeds. i think it has something to do with the extra volume of blood in your body and blood vessels. your teeth may bleed more also when you brush your teeth!

nothing to worry about as long as your nose bleeding isn't excessive!

Ask your doctor or other medical professional. It could be a sign that you have high blood pressure, not uncommon in pregnancy with some women. Donot rely on asnwers here from people who are NOT MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS. Check with your doctor!
