Would you think millions Americans are exhausted with the all the media coverage on Britney Spears and Anna Nicole Smith outcome? What happen to our soldiers in Iraq and lower taxes that is affect more Americans? Have we forgotten we are at war, and that millions of families are drawn out to listen to garbage from the media on which it has no purpose but drama? What you think! I feel bad for our well known people “Britney Spears” and all actor and actress who needs counseling, but! Again what is that going to do for us? And for “Anna Nichole Smith” death is a tragedy, but I feel this is personal that should be only kept among the family not the media. Do you believe the media is doing this to draw away attention from our people in war or not?

Yes! The U.S. should preemptively kill all Pop-Culture Celebrities once every ten years to get the funeral coverage over with all at once.

Except Natalie Portman. She should be exiled. To a tropical island. With me.

I dont think they are intentionally drawing attention from the war

news channels depend on ratings just as much as any other show on TV, they approach the most interesting topics and stick to those stories until they are sucked dry or until the next scandal arrives.

The Anna Nicole Smith story is a circus and it fits perfectly in the mindset of the newscasters (plenty of drama, sex, and drugs). This story is already starting to loss its luster in the news and has just recently been overtaken by the James Cameron story.

Some people are fed up with the whole thing, but the fact is that someone must be watching right? Or else the big top would not still be standing.

I don't listen to the news that has a lot of this celebrity stuff on it. I can tolerate some, but I get bored. I switch to a station that has something more interesting, or turn it off.
I don't think the media is particularly trying to draw our attention away from the war. I think they just prefer to cover a topic that doesn't require paying foreign correspondents to search out the news. They can just go to a celebrity media conference and get a nice lucrative tidbit, and it's much cheaper.

The media is doing it for ratings. No one wants to hear the reality of war -- they'd rather watch American Idol and not pay attention to what's really important (and that's probably how we got into this mess in the first place).
