Thank You All so much for the words of encouragement! If my boss can only deal with my irritability, all will be well. I am finally not TRYING to quit as I have said in the past, but this time I am going to quit!

You are all wonderful! Even Bunny FooFoo who just pissed me off and strengthened my will power :)

I found that there are certain times in the day that I needed a cigarette because I was used to having one (in the car, after a meal, etc.) So, find something to do with those signature cigarette smoke breaks. Chew gum, grab a cup of tea, sing in the car instead of smoke, etc. Keeping yourself involved in something else that takes your mind off of that urge helped me, and I've been cigarette-free since June. But...DON'T reach for food! That's why so many people who quit gain weight.

Hang in there Trooper! I worked for a major pharmaceuatical company for many years... they worked on many drugs to mainly alleviate the withdrawal symptoms from quiting such an addictive behavior... the key word "behavior". It is pretty well known that behavioral modification usually takes around 21 days or three weeks, and you are already almost 1/3 of the way thru that..keep on keepin on... and just tell yourself by tomorrow I will have only 10 more days etc... next thing you know you will have it gone! I think you are definetly making the right changes. If you have a drink find something else to do besides smoke, get up walk around and talk to someone.. substitute the behavior of smoking with any other kind of activity... change up your other routines as necessary to avoid running into the old fix right? Hell yes, you are doing it right now!
Bailey said that! Strength and Honor!

That is completely wonderful, good for you. I know you use to laugh at these things but just think about how much better you feel now and much healthier you are going to be in the long wrong. Also, the hardest part is over and it really does get easier with everyday. Besides you have made it this far why go back now. I quit smoking a year ago, and I have never been so proud of myself, and you should be proud to. You have made a wonderful decision for your self, your kids in the future, your friends, your family, and everyone around you. You are healthier and you will live longer for the decisions you are making. Congratulations and welcome to smarter and stronger side. Good luck and keep going.
Hope you enjoyed my babbling.

Congrats! Don't give up. After day 21 it got easier for me. It's been 3 years now. YOU CAN DO IT! I always carried very strong mints around with me and avoided smokers for awhile. I had to go somewhere else for breaktime for a few weeks. I feel SO MUCH BETTER!!!

congratulations!
you can do this!
and you'll outlive that wanker Bunny Foof!

do you have kids? you don't want them exposed to the smoke, or being more likely to be smokers themselves, do you? this also applies to future kids.

smoking's expensive.
it makes your clothes and hair smell bad
it discolors your teeth, your clothes, and your possessions.
it's bad to do at your computer, that crap gets into the circuitry.
it ages you.
it causes heart disease as well as pulmonary problems
lots of people won't date smokers

so why on earth would you want to start again?

if you need something to keep your hands/mouth busy, get a bag of those little Dumdums suckers...the small ones with all the great flavors like root beer and pineapple. this will let you get
divide and conquer your habits...the physical desire for nicotine, then, LATER, your habit of having something to do with your hands and mouth.

Hang in there. Hope you can make it to being a non smoker--not just a smoker without any cigarettes. Try to stay busy and active. STAY AWAY FROM THOSE WHO SMOKE.
