I keep having pregnancy / uti symptoms for the past wk and now I'm starting to get really scared, I have an app for this Friday to get checked out, but today is Tuesday and I feel that I waited long enough with these dumb cramps and symptoms, I need to know what the indication is, I need to know so I can feel better and if I'm prego also so I can be prepared. If I went into the ER today(which I'm highly about to do) what kind of test do you think they will give me?

It's not the prego thing scraing me- it's the UTI. & I took hpt but it was neg, but I would be like 4 or 5 wks, and I want a blood test because I am a lil convinced that I am. The UTI symptoms are really scaring me and I keep gettin fever and chills, I'm dirnking cranberry juice and water, it helps the cramps a little, but I still get little pains in my back where my kidneys are and I'm scared, they hurt.

Hollilyn I reeally like your answer it was specific like I wanted. The preg thing aint scaring me if the UTI, which I think turned into a kidney infection, and I just got over a stomach problem so I didn't treat my UTI in time, so now I think it's a kidney infection which makes me want to go to the ER, becasue of the random pains I'm getting.

they will take about three vials of blood which will test for pregnancy, stds, kidney and liver function etc. and run a urine screen, take your heart rate, blood pressure and other miscellaneous tests.
Its not that scary. I was in the ER on Saturday and those were the types of tests they ran on me which is all typical

*EDIT*- I am glad you liked my answer. On another note,
Pregnancy tests are very common for ER visits with women. If they need to prescribe you any medications, they need to know as many medications are very unsafe to take during pregnancy.

When you go to the ER, and ask for a pregnancy test the draw about 4-5 viles of blood and they send it to the lab. If your prego they come in and tell you and take you back for a ultrasound. That is how they find out how far along you might be. Then they make sure that you are to set an appointment to see a doctor.

Why not just buy a pregnancy test...its alot cheaper than a visit to the ER...are you late for your period? If so I would take the test first and if you are having UTI symptoms then you should see if you can change your Dr appt for tomorrow instead of Fri....Good Luck!

Please don't use an ER for a pregnancy test or UTI.

Your doctor can test your urine for both pregnancy and the possible UTI. You can also buy a pregnancy test at any pharmacy.

if you think you're pregnant go to a local supermarket, or drug store and get a home pregnancy test. then you can know in a few minutes. dont go to the ER just to see if you are pregnant.
