Politcally motivated or not, you can't argue the facts in this story. For someone who "flies" around the world preaching to us about conserving energy, those numbers are insane.

Kalee Kreider, a spokesperson for the Gores, did not dispute the Center's figures, taken as they were from public records. But she pointed out that both Al and Tipper Gore work out of their home and she argued that "the bottom line is that every family has a different carbon footprint. And what Vice President Gore has asked is for families to calculate that footprint and take steps to reduce and offset it."

Now that's a quote from the article that is SO typical of political tap dancing from Gore and many OTHER politicians!

"Carbon footprint"...???...Gimme a break!! Do the Gores TRUELY believe the people of this country are THAT stupid??

Hypocrite...yes!

Idiot...yes!

A burden to our environment...absolutely!

I really don't get all the animosity against Al Gore. Even if you don't completely buy that global warming is real (you know, because you think you know better than all the leading scientists in the country), why would you be against having less of an impact on the earth all the same? What is the big deal with trying to recycle a little more and drive a little less? Some people on here act like he's telling you to go out and kick puppies or something. He's telling you to do things that could potentially save lives!

As for whether or not he's a hypocrit because he has a really high electricity bill, yeah, that's bad, but it sounds like he's working on it. And I've had electric bills of over a hundred dollars and I live alone in a tiny little apartment! So I can imagine what my bill would look like if I had a 20-room house, energy-saving lightbulbs and appliances or not. And even if he was a hypocrit, it doesn't make what he's saying any less true. My parents didn't want me to smoke because they knew it was bad for me--even though they both smoked. Get my point?

And this is not something Gore is pulling out of his butt. He's been studying this and lobbying for change for the past 30 years. And even George Bush now admits there is a problem. Open your eyes already! Sheesh.

Maybe he should get some solar panels, but the truth is the guy is not running for office, so what reason would he have to be a hypocrite? Have you seen an inconvenient truth? There is more data every day coming in. According to Feb Scientific American we are at the highest levels of methane and co2 in planetary history, and what goes along with that is a rise in global temperature. Here is the thing though, they measure it with air bubbles trapped in ice. What about the time periods in the earths history when it got so hot that no ice formed? If the water rose some 5,ooo feet (which is shown in new evidence found in melting ice cap showing frozen sea creatures from depths of 5,000 at our surface) the ocean would stay cold enough down there to keep the ice cap frozen. The thing is we know this is cyclical, but what we can't measure is just how hot it is going to get because when we get to a certain point ice will stop forming. When that happens there will be no record, that is why we can't see the extreme before the freeze in ice core records.

Global warming is real, and we are going to have to do something to adapt one way or the other, we can go below ground or into space if necessary.

As far as AL Gore, my hat is off to a man who pursued this important issue after his political gains where behind him. I would compare that to Jimmy Carters work with Habitat for Humanity. They are both cool cats in my book.

Al Gore is a Neo Environmentalist Nazi and a hypocrite

There was an ice-age right ? What melted all of that ice ? Global Warming melted all of that ice ! The Globe heats up and Globe cools down it all has to do with how close the Earth is to the Sun and the angle of the Earth to the Sun in the Earths rotation of the Sun.It also has to do with what the Sun does when there are solar flairs and things going on with the sun that affect the temperature on Earth its all natural.People like Al Gore and other issue driven people use issues (animal rites people as another example) to try to rule over your life and to rule over you.

Yes,
At this point, his movie is still fiction. Science is based on facts and science has NOT proven global warming. Is mankind to be blamed for the Ice Age or the thawing out of it? The climate goes in cycles. There will be times when the earth is warm and times when it is cold. Science has proven the Sun is producing more heat which in turn makes the planet warmer.

Plus, he has not practiced what he preaches. Look at his electric and gas bill for the past few years. It takes 20 families to match him. His carbon footprint crap is just a way for him to buy his way to zero emissions.

Everyone should do their part, including politicians and ex-politicians.

Is Al Gore a Hypocrite?

Maybe.

However, that has no affect on his environmental work. Just because Al Gore has a huge electric bill, doesn't mean that Global Warming is any less of a threat, or that we are any less responsible for adding to the problem.

I assume that you're upset because you believe in Global Warming and are afraid that if Gore is seen as a hypocrite your position won't be taken seriously. Have I got it right? Or are you simply attacking the messenger and ignoring the more important situation at hand?

I know people with homes half that size that have bigger electric bills. It's all relevant. People always want to attack the affluent. What else is new?
