no cat dog or rabbit? well then a ferret, but they are pretty expensive (if you think that over $100 is expensive -i did-). They are fun though. Very playful. The don't require a lot of attention, but they do love getting it. They love being held too, i had one that would stay up on my shoulders when i held her. They have great balance! If your parents say that that's too much ( i bought mine, saved up for her. I was your age,) then maybe they would better like a gunia pig or hamster, or rat, or mouse, or bird, or maybe a lizard of some sort. most of them are pretty cheap. I am getting a hedgehog this year for my 16th birthday, but those are like 2 or 3 hundred dollars, and, depending on where you live, you might have to get them off line, and they might not even be legal where you stay. But there are plenty of options, just do your research.

RATS!
We have 3 and they are so awesome. You really should get 2 though (of the same sex). They will entertain each other while you are away. They don't bite like hamsters and gerbils and you can train them. 2 of ours use a critter litter box, cuts back on having to clean the cage so often. Just dump the litter box. Ours are very clean and don't smell either. However, the life span of rats is about 3 years.

Bearded Dragon! Baby Bearded Dragons cost more than an adult (around 130-150 bucks)! Also see if you can swing a Chinchilla... I doubt your family would approve of this furry creature since they like to take sawdust-like baths! A Guinea Pig? Turtle? Fish? Anole (wouldnt recommend handeling them) or a snake? Ill post a link or two so you can see what they look like and to obtain further information! (Bearded Dragon, Chinchilla, and Guinea Pig)! I plan to obtain a bearded dragon this summer... they are just adorable! Plus I already have cats and fish! Other than that your options are limited!

If you doo choose a pet rat the be aware that you must get at least 2. Rats are group animals and need the conpany of their own kind.
Also the minimum cage should be 2 cubic foot. And tanks are NOT acceptable.
here are some links for info, be sure to read them if you are thinking about getting rats.

1. hamsters are de BEST and i think the nicest among them are the dwarfs (siberian) they have dark lines down their backs. adorable loving creatures. around 5- 10 dollars
2.guinea pigs are quite friendly and kind of like bunnies, they make xclnt frenz... abt 20 dollars
3. fish, although boring are quite relaxin to watch, anywhere from 50 cents to a thousand dollars lol... which reminds me of:-
4. turtles- wonderful to play with, and theyre water creatures
5. chincillas, but they areee quite expensive, yet small abt the size of a rabbit...
6. pigeons are sweet and very loving but you need space
7. baby chicks are really fun and need loads of care

How about a rat or Ginni pig? They look cute (to me) and they aren't that bad. But don't try to bathe them. I'm telling you that from experience.
