How close is "really, really close?" I have been led to believe that some commercial satellites --to say nothing of spy satellites-- are capable of photographs with resolutions of less than 1/3m (less that 1 foot), but that either the photos are not taken at that resolution or, if they are, they are not available to the general public.

The real estate site www.zillow.com does that in the U.S. So do Yahoo maps and Google maps.
