It can be, then again the internet itself can be considered "bad" since it allows for anonymous interactions.

The key is paying attention to what your kids are doing online, allow them to have a myspace page, but tell them that you want to be able to view the page.

Be involved and there shouldn't be a problem

Only if those kids are irresponsible. Some kids (and I'm talking age 13+. Any younger, and I'd say those nude, practically pornographic images are bad for them. I'd say 16+, but I have a younger brother....) can possibly get into bad situations if they're looking for local friends, boy/girlfriends, etc. But if they're just looking for penpals, or a way to waste an hour a day, then I'd say it's a harmless way for them to chat with friends.

not necessarily. it's the people who abuse the site that give it a bad name. There are some kids out there that put up their address, phone number, and what kind of car they drive thinking that a pedophile isn't going to see it. They don't think before they put things up on their page. The site itself has ways of protecting privacy like making the page invisible until the person adds them.

the only bad thing is that some kids spend hours on hours of their time on the site instead of doing homework etc.

Only if they provide too much personal information there that would allow predators to track th kid down, and only if the kid isn't informed about what to watch out for on the Internet.

it actually depends. If you trust your child in knowing that he/she is talking to his/her friends on this website or someone from school... or a family member.

Otherwise, if they are talking to people that they do not know-- if you don't trust your child, then it can be bad. There are "stalkers" on the internet, you just have to know if your child knows the right decision.

This mostly all depends on trust, or the fact that they are telling other people their true age and location etc.... ask your child or check out their profile.

parents who say myspace is bad for kids are really saying "i dont pay enough attention to my child, so i didnt know about that child preditor they were talking to." parents have no one to blame but themselves when it comes to this.

depends on the purpose. if they are on myspace just surfing, then who knows what they'll see. if it's to keep in touch with relatives only, i think it's cool

Yes, it is, b/c they don't know who the person is that they are talking to on the other end of the computer. It could be a stranger or a kidnapper.
