Well, sure. Thoughts dissapate quite quickly, but can last far longer than an organic thing like a heart. YOu can be in people's thoughts after you die I guess. Anyways, yes they can and do.

Depends what the situation is and what type of person it is. I still have memories of past boyfriends, past deaths, past joys, etc. Sometimes it's good to hold onto them for witnessing tools on how to build your character. Maybe that's just me.
