Depends on what the siding is made from. If it is wood just use screws to attach a mailbox. A flag should be attached thru the siding and into a stud. Just look at the nails. They are usually 16 inches apart.

I think a real good studfinder can find a stud under siding. Use 3" wood screws. They are fairly common. I attached antenna brackets to my wood-sided house. What I did, was screw in a foot-long piece of 1x6 with about a dozen 2 or 2 1/2 inch screws. Then, I attached the brackets to that block of wood. It's been sturdy for several years now.

Do you mean vinyl siding? Most items can be screwed on if the screws go deep enough into the wood sheathing underneath. Some homes have styrofoam sheathing under the vinyl. Then you have to locate a stud under the vinyl and foam board. An electronic studfinder is needed to be sure of hitting a stud.

if you use anything that punctures the siding make SURE to seal around it VERY good. if you don't water can get in and cause all kinds of problems and your insurance will not pay for the damage

Use screws to attach to siding, predrill screw holes smaller than what the screws are. Remember before you screw the screws in, put some silicone caulk on the screw and in hole so no water can get in the hole.............

use screws. that is what most people use, but make sure they are galvanized screws. if u use household screws, they may rust, and cause a stain on your siding. it did on mine.
