Yeah, in Quatermass and The Pit (1960) they were excavating for a new tube station at Hobbs End on the Central Line and they dug up an alien.

I think this was an advert for the TV series 'Primeval' which last Saturday featured creatures that came into the underground through the time portals. This is an excellent series which feature the fight to understand why these time portals are opening up and allowing prehistoric monsters through into this time.
