Most profitable businesses take a large portion of the profit to invest back into their business to grow it and make it even more profitable. Some businesses where they have experienced success in the long term are more likely to waste funds. Some companies take profit and build a non-for profit to help the community - like Ronald McDonald House charities for example. Alot of companies will give big bonuses and huge raises and perks to the top dogs forgetting about the people doing the grunt work.

depending on the nature of the business you can either spread the profit within the ownership as stated in the contract or put it back in to the company (forgot the term.)
