Here's the deal:
You sleep however you are comfortable. Your body will let you know if you're doing something wrong - for example they say it's bad to lay on your back - but if you do, you will just feel after some time that you're short of breath and maybe even dizzy a little - this is how your body tells you that it's enough - and you will change position, even if you're asleep. So if you still can sleep on your tummy, it's ok. You'll feel it for sure when it's time to change your position, because the bigger you get - the harder it will be sleeping in any position anyway :))
Expect to have at least 2-7 pillows with you in bed as you progress farther in pregnancy :)
As for a baby - the amniotic fluid makes him almost float in the bubble so it's not likely that you'll squish the baby. This is why they say it's ok if you accidentially bump your belly onto something. Just try to avoid any accidents later in pregnancy when baby is gotten big and has less room for l wiggling.
Good luck to you

I layed on my stomach for as long as I could comfortably. Eventually you'll be to big in the belly to lay on it. You will be on your side with a pillow under your belly.

You do what's comfortable for you. The baby will not be harmed by sleeping on your belly. That baby is well insulated by a bag of water and your musculature. No harm will come. It will most likely become too uncomfortable pretty soon however.

I did all the way thru both times, I never got realllly big and it was still possible for me to. I asked my OB with my first pregnancy and he said if it was comfortable and I could fall asleep that way then to go for it.
Whats important with your pregnancy it what you and your OB feel is OK, if you feel wierd about it call and ask the nurse.

Why would you want to do that???? Is more conftable to get a pillow and sleep on your side. I'm 4 months and I'm not conftable sleeping on my stamach down. You should try not to do it just in case is not like you have to right?

I am a stomache sleeper.....but once I started to feel the "knot" I stopped no matter how uncomfortable it was just so that I didn't take a chance on hurting them.

Do NOT sleep on your tummy, you'll squish the baby and then she'll be mad! try getting a body pillow, tuck it between your knees, it will help keep you from rolling over onto your stomach.
I know it sucks, I used to sleep on my stomach and I want to so badly sometimes, but you have to remember that there's a baby in your tummy and you don't want to squish her.
