That can depend on a lot of things. Like the species. If its your typical red-eared slider, there are good food pellets out there.. Adult turtles only need to eat 2-3 times a week. Hatchling need to eat more often (4-5 times a week) but dont overfeed them because turtles dont have the metabolism that tells them to quit eating.. or hunger for that matter. Try more inticing food like worms or small goldfish (dead). If it still doesnt eat it might have an illness. My best advice is to just put the food in and wait and see if she eats. By the way... i would HIGHLY doubt its hibernating as they only go into a hibernating state during the winter when the lakes freeze over. Research your species more at www.chelonia.org.

In most cases like this, the water temps are too cool. Use an aquarium heater to bring it up to 75-80F and things should improve.

Besides tank temps, other common problems include:
- small, dirty tank
- poor lighting
- wrong diet
