I am taking Yasmin and have been taking it for about 2 years now. I have gained weight and have recently been getting mood swings and mild depression. i.e. I don't have a drive to do anything, I'm sluggish and easily irritated. If I get off the pill, is it likely that these symptoms will go away? I am not interested in switching to a different pill. What are some symptoms of going off the pill? And is it likely that what I am going through is caused by the pill at all?

In my experience I had mood swings with Yasmin. I got off the pill after my boyfriend could not deal with it anymore and my mood swings went away. Thank GOD! One time I would be laughing and cheery next minute I would be crying for no reason at all. Just stop taking it. The mood swings will go away and try out other options. Go to the doctor hun there is the shot Depo and other options. Depo stops cycles no bleeding at all.

Definitely talk to your gyno about this; you made need to try a different pill with a different dosage of hormones. Or, you may need to switch to a different form of brith control all together. I know how you feel,though- I was on "the pill" (a different one) for over a year, and not only did I gain a little weight and become a bit sluggish, but my libido dimished greatly. It's still not what it used to be, which really sucks!

You have probably developed a hormone imbalance- probably estrogen dominance. 95% of PMS can be vastly improved if steps are taken to balance the body's hormones. You're probably very low on progesterone and other hormones.

If you don't get off the pill, a change of diet can help, such as a hypoglycemic diet

Get off it....

The best one in my opinion...is the Depo...One shot every three months and its time released so you are not overloading your system with the BC Pill everyday. Your body can't handle the pill..get off of it.
