Look to where your product needs to be located. Depending on what you are selling. If you approach people don't be in their face but let them know you are there to help to answer any questions. I think treat others as you would want to be treated falls into this category. If you make a sale, thank your customer by a telling or if you work for a housing or car market then send a thank you note with business card in it.
