Yes, I think it did. I haven't seen the movie Norbit because I think he is disrespecting black women not just over weight black women but all black women. I think the movie has demeaning racial stereotypes. I also think Norbit is garbage. Eddie Murphy offended some by portraying and ridiculing an obese female character called Rasputia. I think his performance in Dreamgirls is so fabulous. Too bad Norbit ruin his chance to win best supporting actor. I think he is funny comedian and an excellent actor. I also think Eddie needs to make better choices in the movies he chooses to be in.

I believe Oscar voting was already over by the time Norbit came out, so no.
It will hurt his chances of ever getting an Oscar from here on out. His acting like a wounded kitten didn't help either. Did you hear that he walked out after Alan Arkin won. I mean, come on dude! You should feel blessed that you even got nominated. What do you expect when your last movies were Daddy Day Care and The Haunted Mansion??

If it didn't, it should have.
I was very happy to see Eddie in the Dreamgirls role. That showed progression, maturity in his acting. He was still having fun, but he went somewhere in his acting that we haven't seen since Boomerang. I could really appreciate him as an actor for that.
Then came Norbit. Ugh.
Still, I'm glad he won a Globe.

no I just think the person who won, Forrest Whittaker, did an exceptional job with his character that caused him to win over the others. I think that Leonardo DeCaprio was great in Blood Diamond also. I didn't see Norbit, but that's what Eddie Murphy does! look at Coming to America!

No, do you remember Pluto Nash? Eddie was still nominated for an Oscar.

I don't believe so. I don't think it did much for his image though. After all, he just finishes playing an excellent role in a smash hit and then we see him in a film that makes the "Pluto Nash" script look like Hamlet. It did make it to number 1 though, I don't know for how long.

actually the voting was not finished when the trailers came out, and I think that, even if it shoulnd't have mattered, it did hurt his oscar turnout.
