A tenant that i was putting out for non paying of rent (for 2 months) call the city on me because I was putting him out for not paying his rent. So now I am hit with six thusand in repairs and i don't own the building and the building was not in bad condtion when i owned it.

If you were in violation and cited for a violation of city code while you were owner....I'd say you better pay.

However, if you had sold the building prior to the city issuing the cite...I'd say you don't owe.

Best contact a local attorney who's familiar with your building codes and laws.

Best wishes!
