The reason Im asking is because I have not returned like 15 books, I wonder if Im in trouble??? Like could I be sued or something like that? I know you are propably wondering why I didnt return them, well to make a long story short, I no longer live in San Antonio, Tx...I moved to Florida and totally forgot about those books...The books are at my moms house, and everytime I visit I mean to return them but I forget. I guess, Its only my fault for being a Big Dummy!!! I plan to return them as as soon as possible and Pay the fines $..I can Imagine $...

LOL. As I am a "gypsy", I have moved several times across state lines, and unfortunately, yes, I too have left without returning books to their respective libraries. Each library is different- one library actually sent me fine notices, and then they started sending me notices telling me that they were going to report those same fines to the credit bureau!! (That hasn't happened yet-thank God! I eventually returned the books, albeit two years later).
I have other library books from other libraries where nothing ever happened to me-other than me not being allowed to have a library card in that particular city until all of the fines were paid and/or the books were returned. Most libraries have websites, so you should check out their websites and see what their policies are on returning books and what the consequences are if you don't return them. Some of those websites allow you to either enter your full name or your library card number and it will show how you much you owe and when you incurred the fines.

Don't feel bad! Believe it or not, you are not alone! There have been stories in the news about library books being returned many years late!
An explanation, the return of the books and a nice donation should do wonders! Or the libray may be willing to make a deal-io regarding the fines.
Check your credit report though--a few libraries are using collection agencies when their items aren't returned. You would have be notified by now though.

I would ask your mom or your sister (if they are both in the area) to return the books for you. Make yourself a note, next time you are in San Antonio, to return those books. You will more than likely pay some fines, depending on how long they have been out and what the policy of the library is.
I would definitely make it a point to return them.

Trust me, if the books are in good condition the library will be happy to get them back. Usually, fines max out at a certain price. For example the most they will charge you is $5.00 for an overdue book - no matter how overdue. They certainly won't charge you more than the books are worth. Again, it depends on your library's policy.
The library would rather have the materials than the money..... especially if the items are out-of-print and are irreplaceable.
(Just remember the items have to be in good condition -- if they are not, then they will charge you the cost of the book)

I still have 4 books I borrowed about 10 years ago when I started college! I still haven't returned them. If you can, when you visit again, case the joint! Go by and see if they have a drop box during or after hours. then drop and run! Or see if your mom would drop them off. They can't make her pay for your overdue books. or call them and ask them of the have a drop box. makeup some story that you work during hours and you wanted to drop off your books. Good luck!

Its like anything else..its stealing. You will be fined with interest and yes you can be court ordered to do so.
Why don't you just pay for it instead of hocking your home for it.
