I have a game that I downloaded (Legally, obviously. As in free.) Unfortunately it's a pretty big file and I really don't want to re-download it to get the uninstall file back. Is there any way and/or program that will allow me to delete whatever is left of the program from the registry? I deleted the folder and learned the hard way that you should always use add/remove programs. I just want it off of the add/remove list, because it is bugging me. I get the "The file doesn't exist or is not a valid uninstallation log file" message whenever I attempt to remove it via the control panel. Thanks in advance.

I've done this before. If in windows...
Start by looking in C:\Program Files or C:\Windows\Program Files and find the game's directory. Delete the game's directory with all the files inside. Delete the icons from the Start Menu and anywhere else you have them. Then, search for the application's name in Find Files or Folders (for example, a game I own called Lords of Magic Special Edition was called LOMSE.EXE. Find this on the game's CD/directory, temporarily restoring it if you need to.) You should find a file, named in my example LOMSE.INF. Delete files with the EXE's filename name at the beginning. The INF files seem to be connected to the registry and store program data, so if you delete them then it may dissapear. Good luck!

Defrag the hard drive, then do system restore, restore to a point just before you deleted the file. You might be able to get the progam to reinstall if your lucky so you can use the add remove programs function....Also, since you deleted the folder, check your recycle bin to see if it is still in there, thats where all files go that you delete, if it is, you can restore it to its location, then use add remove programs to uninstall it.....

Hope this works for ya!

Fat chance of that happening! The program is probably spread all over your hard drive! The only people who would know this are the programmers. Just download it again and use the proper uninstall this time.
