torture has long been known to not really be an effective means of getting reliable information. the web is full of reports and investigations into the usefullness of torture as an information gathering tool, and the recent trial in the us of a us citizen tortured in the recent war on terror has only helped to highlight the us's policy on this. the fact that a large amount of paranoia exists within the us military about its public relations concerning this makes me not particularly surprised at the controlling attitude displayed by them in this case.
