This morning my cramps woke me up out of my sleep and when I stood up for a while I felt like I was going to faint or like I couldnt get enough oxygen. I was very dizzy. This feeling didnt go away until I sat down for like 5 minutes. I would attribute this to blood loss except I wasn't bleeding that heavily, can someone please explain why this might happen? Was it from pain or what?

I had this problem in high school. I was told the faintness &/or sleepiness is a sign of low iron. You should take a vitamin with iron everyday...not just while having your period. Take care of yourself with a good diet, water, and plenty of sleep. This should help you sweetie!

I had the same symptoms most of my life, and when I was 17, I finally talked about it with my doc, and she diagnosed me with primary Dysmenorrhea (painful cramps, fainting, nausea and vomiting, etc.). She put me on the birth control patch, and I only wore it for 2 years. I stopped using it because people were complaining of blood clots and heart problems with it. And I've been fine ever since. I still get minor cramps some months, but nothing like I went through before.

Speak with your doctor (better yet, your gyno) about this. You may have the same disorder I had.

You might have low iron or anemia. Request some blood work to see what your levels are.
You might not be bleeding heavy, but your insides are still engorged with a lot of blood.
Pain can also make you feel faint.

It is probably due to lack of iron. You should go to the doctor and asked to be checked for anemia.

your iron and/or potassium levels may be low...eat bananas and take a multivitamin...or see your doctor if that doesn't help
