Do you think Queen Elisabeth II was happy about the movie that was done in which Helen won the oscar?. I think Miss Mirren showed great class in her speach to thank the Academy and also Queen Elisabeth II.

According to some papers she, Peter Morgan and Stephen Frears are to be invited to the palace for lunch. The editor of Majesty magazine did not think there was anything to which the Queen could object, though apparently as a countrywoman her getting sentimental over the deer is not very realistic - remember the photos of her breaking the neck of that pheasant. Dame Helen was very gracious about the Queen in her Golden Globe and BAFTA speech as well, and no doubt the Queen appreciates it, whatever her reservations about having private family moments depicted on screen.

Helen Mirren was very gracious in her acceptance speeches and magazine interviews, despite the fact that her parents were anti-monarchists. The Queen has been through stormy seas before and weathered them. I doubt one movie is going to ruffle her feathers very much.

Then again, she might just surprise us by jumping across the tea and crumpets, cracking a 400-year-old vase over Dame Helen's head at their upcoming tea party, and treating her ever-present Welsh corgis to a dinner of fresh meat.

As far as I know the palace never responds to these sorts of movies (regarding royalty) publicly so we will never know for sure. I am going to rent it this weekend....by the way, didn't Helen look gorgeous in her gown?

The queen should be happy she was portrayed as a human and not as a stuck up ***** like she seems to be.
