The MLS numbers are given in order as properties are submitted to the MLS system. The number is not a code for date listed but the newest listings will have the highest numbers and those that have been on the market longer will be lower.

That doesn't consider the fact that some listings have expired or been cancelled and re-listed with new MLS numbers given. A property could have been on the market for a real long time but re-listed a number of times and just re-listed and lo-and-behold it appears fresh and just listed!

A REALTOR might not "just tell" you how long a property has been on the market (especially the listing REALTOR) as it goes against the duty to the Seller.

Develope a working relationship with a REALTOR and you'll be surprised at how much information and service you will receive!

In my area, the MLS number does not indicate time on the market. To find out how long a home has been for sale, contact a local real estate agent who has access to the MLS database.

MLS number have absolutely nothing to do with the length of time a house has been on the market. You can call ANY Realtor and ask for the information. Be prepared for " do you have a Realtor"- tell them at this point your just looking.

Zip Realty is completely inaccurate and a rip off. They are being sued by the FTC for deceptive trade practices.

go to ZipRealty.com. You will have to sign up but it is a great tool that will tell you when the house was listed.
