The Buffalo Sabres for example will have a lot of young players filling in for their injured players. When the injured players come back, and the replacements have to go back to the Minors, do they get their names on the cup because (if) they help the Sabres win some games on the road to the cup?

The winning players, coaching staff, management, and club staff all go on the cup.

In order to go on (for players) you must play at least 41 regular season games with the team and must remain with the team until the Cup is won. (so basically anyone who was just traded today, doesn't get on) If you play at least one game in the Finals you also go on the cup. The NHL can rule on any unusual situations, so it is possible to get on if a player doesn't meet the above criteria.

Oh Joe Thornton doesn't have any experience on this since he hasn't won any Stanley Cups. Althought I do find it amusing that he calls himself "jenna" online

I think the minimum is half of the regular season games OR 1 playoff game. Others can be added with exceptional circumstances (like Mario was one year) those have to be approved by the NHL central office.

equipment managers and such are often put on as well.

There was somebody who got their name on the cup after an emergency recall in the playoffs- he played one game before the guy who was injured came back. He got on.

All the players that played in Playoff season get their name signed on it.........even replacements do because they either helped them win the wining game or helped them in any ohter game whether it be an assist or even checking some other player.........most of the tmie though it is only those who played but with exceptions some players who did not play any of the playoff games will get to sign it
