I am in the process of filing a civil suite against someone, I haven't retained an attorney yet but within the next week I will. Can someone tell me an average price it would cost to obtain a court order once I have retained a lawyer? The civil suite will take plae in Virginia, but a ballpark figure from anywhere in the US would at least help give me an idea.

The lawsuite will be filed for slander, harrassment, false arrest, and possibly perjury against the other party.

There is not price to get a court order. You will have to pay a filing fee to the Court, an attorney to draft your pleadings and negotiate and possibly settle with the other side, and there is no guarantee you will win? Since you have all these questions, find an attorney to give you a consultation.

Depends on what type of suit you are filing and the total $$ amount. If you are filing for $5000 or less you can go to small claims court and avoid paying for the lawyer. IF you feel you need a lawyer involve them now before you file and they can give you an idea of the costs and how the process works and also give you an idea of your chance at success.

What kind of lawsuit? If it's personal injury, you may not have to pay more than a couple of hundred up-front because it could be a contingency fee case. Can you give us a little more information?
