WHAT HAPPENED TO THE CHINESE STOCK MARKET??

IS THIS PERMANENT YOU THINK?

China is thinking about limiting foreign investment into major companies thus slowing down the runaway economy. Prospective investors are worried that they may not get the massive return that they are expecting.

As one of the other answers pointed out, shout fire and everyone runs - then in a few weeks they will realise again that this is still and will be for the future years the biggest growth area where pioneers will make it big - ( until China closes its doors again and decrees everything state property)

Essentially the same thing that happens in an auditorium if someone yells "fire". Everyone heads for the exits at the same time. The Shanghai market was down yesterday almost 9 percent after hitting a new high. That was the immediate trigger.

No it's not permanent - nothing is. Greenspan reckons there will be a recession in the US later this year, this could be the beginning of it. Yes, it's tied to China, no it's nothing to worry about. Time to buy your 06-07 ISA ? Was regretting delaying as prices climbed, but I think this might be the week I get round to it.

Dealing in the stock market is based on assumptions and how good a stock is going to be. when a market is talked up the value increases due to speculators. China's economy simply isn't as strong as everyone thought it was going to be so it has to be adjusted to remove the over valuation placed on it. So if you bought those stocks or your pension company did you just lost.

it goes up, it goes down. nothing is permanent. certainly due for a correction. a few events today presumably triggered it (china market going down, attempt on cheney)

Nothing is ever permanant be it good or bad. Either act to take advantage or just ignore the hit.

Ignore the stock market, let's go to the beach instead.

It's just a correction... one HELL of a correction... but a correction, none the less.

If it continues tomorrow we are all in deep dodoo
