Like many thrillers, "The Departed" was a concentrated effort by many fine individuals acting as a team. Is Jack Nicholson the man? Of course. But Scorcese didn't just point the camera at Nicholson and tell him to ad-lib for 2 hours. The contributions of DiCaprio's passion and intensity, Damon's will to survive and familiar humor, Wahlberg's bluntness and determination, and Sheen's dignity and competence are only some of the factors that contribute to the overall film experience.
