I just had a baby three months ago and am breastfeeding exclusively but had a period at 8 weeks postpardum. My husband and I have had both protected (condom) & unprotected sex using the withdraw method. My period has not returned yet & I have been experiancing these symptoms going on 3 weeks: mild headaches, constant low back pain, nausea, cramps, sore nipples like when I first started breastfeeding or during my first postpardum period, dizziness, sensitivity to odors, and a little more fatigued and sleepy than usual. Also I was experiancing a thick jelly like discharge about a week ago and more discharge that usual for about 2 weeks now. Could I be pregnant this early postpardum?

Yes you could be pregnant-it is possible. Try an HPT. I became pregnant while breastfeeding and my babies are 14 months apart. Like you, I did start menstruating again. Also-you may not be pregnant. I found that my cycles were very irregular while BFing. Many of your symptoms could be from having an infant (back pain, headache, sleepiness). You won't know for certain until you test but it really could go either way! Good luck and if you are pregnant, don't worry, you will adjust and the babies will help keep each other busy eventually.

Okay, yes, you can get pregnant as early as a few weeks before your first period after you give birth (you ovulate before that first period).

A few things, first, the "withdraw method" is something I just don't get. It is NOT a form of birth control. Use the condom or some other form of birth control every time, because plenty of babies are born on the "withdraw method".

Also, coming right out of the end of pregnancy, remember, you probably wouldn't have low back pain in early pregnancy, at least none any worse than your average PMS causes.

I had a really erratic cycle for a few months post-partum, so you could be just still adjusting. If you end up pretty late, it can't hurt to take a pregnancy test.

If you are pregnant, get medical help immediately, and make sure they understand how recently you had a baby. Your body may not be well equipped to handle a pregnancy this early, so they'll probably want to keep an extra eye on you.

Good luck.

Yes you can be pregnant already. The fact that your period returned indicated that you began ovulating already. Breastfeeding is not a full proof contaceptive. Usually it prevents ovulation and that is why women don't usually have a period. But sometimes it doesn't. If the period has returned so has ovulation and yes you can get pregnant. You have to also use other types of contraception when breastfeeding unless you want to get pregnant, and the withdrawal method is definitely not safe since there is semen in the pre-ejaculation. Take a pregnancy test asap. Pregnancy will also reduce your milk supply so if you are pregnant you will have to start supplementing soon.

yes you most def could be pregnant again, you are actually more fertile during the first couple of postpardum months. However it can also take awhile for your periods to become normal again, esp when breastfeeding as your body is still getting back into the swing of things. Try taking a hpt.

It is possible to be pregnant. you are actually very fertile in the first couple months after pregnancy. I breastfed my kids and the first child I got my period but the second one I didn't get my period until 9 months after she was born and I was breastfeeding. I would take a test just to be sure. Good luck with everything and congrats on the new baby

Yes it is possible to be pregnant. Anytime you have unprotected sex, there is a chance to get pregnant. Especially after you had a baby, you need to use protection. You can still get pregnant even if you are breastfeeding, my friend did and she did not have a period. You will still ovulate without having your period after giving birth. Take a test asap.

My mother-in-law and her brother are 10 months apart. So, to answer your question, yes, it's very easy to get pregnant after having a baby. My OB/GYN said you're more likely to get pregnant after JUST having a baby as opposed to spreading the planning out. BTW, the "pull-out" method is not an effective way to prevent pregnancy. Didn't you ever have health class in school?

Some people get pregnant a month after.
If you've had a period, you're definitely ovulating (and would be on the 2nd ovulation since birth).

These symptoms could also be indicative of an infection, so either way you should get checked.

You could be pregnant. I would take a test to be sure. I didn't have a period until I stopped breast feeding, but since you had unprotected sex (withdraw method is not very reliable) it could be.

Yes it could be another pregnancy. You are very fertile after birth. Many people have children only 10-11 months apart
