1 cubic foot of gold weighs 1188.6 pounds. therefore 4000 pounds of gold will occupy 4000/1188.6 cubic feet, or about 3.365 cubic feet.
I'm assuming since you are using tons you want the volume if cubic feet.

Assuming this is pure gold, the density is 19.3 g/ml or cm^3.
So 2 tons equals 4000 pounds equals 1818 kg.
So 1818 kg * 1000 g/kg = 1,818,000 g
1,818,000 divided by 19.3 is 94,206 cm^3s or 9.4 L. or a cube 45 cm on a side, which is about 18 inches on a side or 5,748 cu inches.
This is regardless of the shape into which it was cast, the volume is the same.

precious metals are weighed in Troy. There are only 12 troy oz in a pound of gold. And they are called tonnes when speaking of precious metals. This means a pound of feathers weighs more than a pound of gold.

i wont give you the answer but here's the method to find it:
*Find the density of gold, either in chem book or online
*convert tons of gold to grams
density = mass / volume
density of gold = 2 tons of gold (converted to grams) / volume
Solve for Volume
