Depending on the subject, your method of studying may very. Here's the tricky part: no one person can tell you the best mode of studying. This orignates from your personal cognitive processes (i.e. the way you think). Are you a visual learner? auditory? kinestetic? Global learner? Detailed learner?

Although you probably won't have time to do this for the exam you are preparin for, conider taking a self test to analyze the type of learner you are. If you can understand how you learn, then you will understand how to teach yourself, and hence how to study :)

I am a highly visual and global learner so here are some tips that work great for me and have for others that I have spoken to:

1. Re-read and re-write your notes. Include only the pertitnent information and eliminate the fluff. In other words, read your notes and find the core information.

2. Organize the information into blocks or chunks that make sense to you.

3. Use coloured pens and highlighters to show key information.

4. Speak out loud and pretend like you are teaching some one else what you are studying. If you can teach someone, then you know that you know the material well.

5. Make mock questions you think might be on the test and practice answering them.

6. Use memonics to memorize things, or other methos that work for you (like a song).

Hope these help. The more you practice studying, the better you will get at it.

Read the entire test, find which questions are easiest and concentrate on those. If you start with the hardest ones, you will waste a lot of time. Go for the easier points first, then work on the progressively harder problems.

This won' help you know the material any better, but it should help...

Studying is a great strategy. Have you tried it?

No seriously, use flash cards. They always helped me remember things.
