Owww! Help! I got contact lenses for the first time on Sunday. I know it takes practice, but today's endeavor was horrible. It took forever to put them in this morning even though I know I was doing it right...my finger was on my eyeball! It just would NOT stick. Worse was this afternoon. When I tried to take it out, I would NOT come off. I ended up scratching my eye, I think. It finally came out, but not without a lot of struggle. Again, I could see in the mirror that my fingers were in my eye, where they should have been. Are my eyes/the lenses too dry? What am I doing wrong?

just make sure the finger that you are using is clean and dry and then the contacts will more likely stick to your eye rather than cling to your finger.

you also may want to trim your nails until you get the hang of it, that will cut down on germs and eye scratches.

When I first got contacts (about 6 years ago) it took me awhile to figure out what was comfortable for me.
Each time I put in my contacts, I place it gently on my right index finger, making sure there are no folds in the contact. Then, (this is the important part) I make sure both sides of the contact are very well lubricated by filling the contact with lens fluid and letting it drip a little underneath the lens. Then, I put the contact in my eye.
I cannot put the contact directly on my iris/pupil area, so I look to the side as I am actually inserting the contact in my eye, then once i know it's on there, i look forward and the contact automatically moves to the correct spot on the eye. I find this works very well for me, and I also find that my eyes remain well lubricated throughout the day. I hope this helps!!!

I feel your pain...I got my contacts two weeks ago, and the first time I tried to put them in after I got home, it took me an hour and a half. one thing that could be wrong is that your finger is too wet, and the lense is sticking to it, or your could be going in at an angle and it will bend and not go on...as far as taking it off, try sliding it down a little bit at first, then taking it out, that way it wont be directly on the color of your eye.....good luck! =D

nothing at all
When i first got contacts it took me 20 minutes to put them in every day..now it takes liek 30 seocnds and i have friends who can do it in less....
it took about 3 months for me to get to the point where i could put them in without woryrin
something that helps is use disposable ocntacts.. like acuve advanced hydrating dailies.. .
they will be cleaner and so will hurt less
they are a littel more epensive but are worth it
also make sure you wash your hands before putting contacts in and if you think you reyes are too dry put some drops in.. make sure you get the moisest contact you can find
if after a month your eyes still hurt when u wear them I would switch brands

It really just takes practice. Make sure that when you're putting your lenses in, you've used your saline rinse first to ensure it's not too dry.

You may have dry eyes. The lenses can get stuck if your eyes are too dry.
