They are people of the Ice. They have always been a peaceful people because the world that gives them life, is always trying to take life, and there is no time or reason to accept other enemies. Acceptance, food and warmth are traditionally given to all visitors. The Seal, the great Bears, the whales, and the caribou are asked and give their lives to feed the Inuit.

I didn't check my books either.....but, I was reminded to find and read again.

I know the Inuit are a proud Native nation!
I know they are a tribe in Alaska.
I know that they face many environmental/political struggles.
I learned that the word eskimo is used inappropriately by most people and is a non Inuit word that means "eaters of raw flesh"

I recentally was watching a video on Native rights. It talked about certain Alaskan tribes were facing an issue because there is a animal (like deer, forget which animal) and it always migrates on a certain path. And, suprise, suprise, the government wants to build or drill or something on that path. Also, one of the tribes had a very young leader. Sorry don't remember too many details. I'll have to watch it again.

Oh and someone told me that some Alaskan tribes play this game where they breath into each others mouths and all the while it makes a song/tune. And you have to try and not laugh. I actually have a CD with this on it. Heartbeat (i think it's called).

I am a Native woman. Testing my knowledge on other tribes here... Good job.. Well now i'm interested. Hope you post some relevant info when you choose best answer so I can check my knowledge. Thanx.

All I know is that they live on or by glaciers and fish for food. They are losing their homes to global warming and they are from Alaska and surrounding area. Plus their ancestors are from Japan.

I know only that they live in the far north, and are seriously threatened by global warming and the encroachment of other cultures. (And they are short)
