I am aware that Robins migrate during the winter months and it's awesome to see them return- it means spring is right around the corner! However, we still have 1+ feet of snow on the ground and I've seen several flocks of robins near the edge of the road in the past week.

They can eat many things, seeds on the ground, bugs berries and bugs on trees. Just because the ground is covered doesnt mean they cant dig and forage. Birds migrate depending on their nesting grounds and the temp of where they are originally from.

Robins eat worms. Best birds in the business for this trade. During snow covered day they will find places where the snow has melted and made the ground saturated, like the edge of the road, this saturation will bring the worms to the surface. If they don't come up they will drown. Ever notice the worms on the sidewalk after it rains. The birds are taking advantage of the roadside puddles.

We don't have Robins here in Michigan during the winter months. It is thrilling to see the first robin of spring!
