My reasons for not liking Kobe:
First of all I'll like for you guys to know that I'm a MJ fan. Year after year I watched MJ prove himself to become the greatest. From being called a ball-hog, the beatings he took from the Pistons & Knicks(The Jordan Rules), people saying a scoring champ can't win, not having a legit BIG MAN or team, & etc. MJ went threw all of that, beat all odds, and now he's arguably the greatest that ever played(4 the sake of debate). As a fan of MJ & watching it all happen I now have the upmost respect for him... So to see Kobe enter the nba as an Laker RESERVE & getting compared to MJ was very disrespectful. Then the Kobe HYPE had got so big, that his first all-star game Kobe was a starter & wasn't even a starter for the Lakers yet. I became furious because this guy was getting all these props without proving himslef yet. How are you going to be compared to the greatest, start on the all-star team, and be a RESERVE player on your team. He was waaay overrated!

and as you can see Kobe is still overrated. He is no were near MJ status...and people constantly compare him to MJ. MJ won all of his titles by leading his team & being the reason for the Bulls success. Kobe being in the same position as MJ haven't proven anything yet. Kobe won titles as 2nd option on Shaq's team, he never won as being the first option franchise player. So to me Kobe's challenge as a superstar started when Shaq left L.A.....and as we all know Kobe haven't proven anything yet when it comes to LEADING a team to a title. If he could do it without Shaq and with players that are alot less then he is, then I'll give him mad props. I know MJ had Pippen but Pippen was not in the same LEAGUE as the great MJ. Kobe isn't as consistant a MJ either. Just compare their scoring stats, Kobe doesn't even come close. Anyways, being compared to MJ without proven himself would be the reason why I don't like him. It has nothing to do with how he acts or his personal business.

I know Kobe scored 81 points in the regular season & MJ haven't. But that doesn't prove anything. There are alot more things MJ has done that Kobe haven't done yet, like averaging 41.0ppg in the FINALS, scoring 63 points in the PLAYOFFS, hitting 6 three pointers in one half of the FINALS, scoring 35 points in one half of the FINALS, winning 10 scoring titles, winning 7 scoring titles in a row, & etc.

Everyone don't listen to Kevin F. He's a hater and doesn't have his facts straight. I'm willing to put up any amount of money that Kobe didn't start as a Laker when he started his first all-star game. I'm even willing to put my LIFE on the line. I have Kobe's first all-star game on tape and you can hear the commentators saying " How unbelievable is this, he's not even a starter on his team but yet a starter on the all-star game". Yep, that was the talk...and google it up I'm pretty sure they'll tell you too.
I'm not about to go into the MJ & Pippen thing because that's just stupid. Only a MORON would think that Pippen was in the same league as MJ, and I don't have time to explain to morons!

I'm going to tell you how dumb Kevin is. That 2 game record difference of MJ not being there doesn't mean much..because they always seem to forget about the 72-10 record that was led in MJ's leadership! So Kevin, do you think the Bulls would of got close to 72-10 without MJ? Well that'll be a no because they didn't...LMAO at you Kev!

Everyone this goes to the idiot Keven F:
Kobe's first all-star game was in the 1997-98 season, he wasn't a starter until the lockout season(1998-99). So you need to get your facts straight, because as you can see mines are, you idiot!

Lakerfor,
he's wrong about everything. Why do he only mention 57 to 55 but don't mention 72-10 & 6 titles with MJ? That's how much better MJ made them! Without MJ, they never seen the finals.

wat the difference with kobe carter tmac and pp. not a lot to be honest the all average between 22-24 points per game they all get about 4-6.5 rebound and all get around so y is kobe the next mj? i need to hear fact and hot friction. kobe won 3 win and neither guys won any. well but any off those 3 guy on the laker and i promise they would won more than 3 rings. kobe is more know in the league than carter tmac and pp. it all about marketing. thier nothing kobe can do that those 3 cant. and i am sure their r other player who play sg/sf that r better than kobe but not loved cause they havent won any rings.
in all his year kobe hasnt dont anything speical apart for 81 points wat else can u say he have wat the other havent?
i cant c how kobe can be call the next jordan and he not even the best player in the west **** thier alot of player that u can put in front of kobe u have kg ming tmac nash marion amare, kobe is a ******* average sg/sf. come on eeveryone say kobe beleive in is team and his average has gone up. his average in assist have gone up 1 asist per game look at tmac how much have his assist improved. tmac has near gone up 2 assist per game. we dotn hear **** about that. kobe has alway have a team so he should have been getting better # than the other 3 players name one team kobe was on and he didnt have players around him. no one can he came in the league he had oneal then he had odom. carter till he when to nj had who, tmac who did he have pp who did he have. dont say walker, all these player had player past thier prime apart from kobe and rapotor didnt play tmac and carter together.
KOBE WILL NEVER BE THE NXT JORDAN. come one in the play off apart from last season compare have taken maybe one big hot to save a game. if kobe was the next jordan he would ahve save the lakeres in the play off and lot of time but but no it fell to other player to take the big shot like horry and fisher. i dont hate kobe but he not a great player he a average sg/sf that rode on the tail of one of the best c. hand down now can a kobe lover prove me wrong

kevin f is right.
He's right about everything except for that part.
I'm just playing with you man. I do agree with you that they should stop comparing kobe to mj, but as far as right now, kobe is probably the best basketball player. The reason the lakers aren't that good is because the players around kobe are very inconsistent, therefore kobe doesn't have players he could trust. But he has been passing the ball more frequently than his previous years and his players are averaging more points, but sometimes they can't make a darn basket so the team has to depend on kobe. Kobe can't do it all. If lakers get a good point guard and a good power forward, they could be a very dangerous team. MJ never won the championship by himself, he always had good players around him. No player ( no matter how good he is ) could do it by himself. I do admit that MJ is the best ball player in history, but I don't think he is way better than kobe.

Get your facts straight.
MJ went 1-9 in the playoffs before pippen came. 1 win 9 losses in the playoffs before pippen
Kobe started in the Lakers lineup when he went to the all star his first year
Nick Van exel, Kobe, Eddie Jones, A.C. Green, and Shaq. all of them were all all stars that year except Green.
The year Jordan left for baseball, the bulls record was 55-27. the year before that it was 57-25. woah 2 games
You cant compare shaq in the prime of his life from age 26-29, Shaq was the best player in the league by far, and there was noone near him
Yes i'll agree MJ is possibly the best of all time (debate between him and wilt will go on forever) but Kobes story is completely different
And also a handful of players have been compared to MJ.
Start in the beginning with penny hardaway, to grant hill, vince carter, kobe, tmac, lebron, jerald green, all these players are stamped with the MJ sticker as soon as they show some sort of potential.

There's a lot of people that don't like Kobe and that's understandable. But to say he is overrated is absurd. I am also a great fan of MJ and I believe he's the greatest player in the history of the game till this day. There will NEVER be anyone as good as MJ, but the closest one rite now is Kobe. He's developing into a leader this year and stats aside who else in the NBA makes big shots time after time like MJ did. Kobe got rings because of Shaq, but the same could be said of Shaq. He still had help in Miami with Dwayne Wade. No one person can win a championship by himself. Kobe has lived up to his hype and he is still growing and let's not forget that the lakers are playoff bound for a second year in a row with kobe, and miami are holding on to an eight seed in the weak eastern conference with Shaq and no D-Wade. Don't like kobe that's fine, but don't say he's overrated.

You're not a true basketball fan. You don't respect the game or true talents. It's perfectly ok to hate Kobe, or to loathe Kobe. But to say that he is overrated just shows low basketball IQ. I hated Karl Malone (who has 0 rings), but hey, I KNOW that he was one of the best ever to play, regardless of what I thought about him. No doubt, MJ was the best ever to play, and probably always will be. Kobe will tell you that in person every time. Kobe IS a great player, and STILL LEARNING. Like this year, he has learned to make his teammates better (intangibles). His offseason workout and training is impeccable. Every NBA player will tell you personally how great Kobe is, and that he ISN'T overrated. And that is the bottom line, since they only play against him in person many times. He is the youngest ever to get 18000 points....but really stats aside, any true basketball fan will tell you that Kobe is a great player, whether they hate him or not.

Who's ever compared the two? Whoever did is stupid. Kobe plays different types of basketball the MJ. MJ had a better team around him. Kobe is the only decent player on his team. MJ will never be topped so lay off Kobe.
MJ was never a Ball Hog. Those people who say that are trippin.

I didn't read all that because i am lazy and it is long so i am just going to give a quick thought on Kobe. He is a great player and IMO the best in the NBA right now but his off court persona, even before the rape trial, was a little abrasive. Add that to the fact the he was constantly hyped by the media and a lot of people like me don't like him

i understand your argument but i dont agree with it...sure jordan has his own highlighted stats, as well as any other great athlete...when people compare these two they are for one not comparing stats...because if we did that wilt would be known as the greatest athlete off all time...when they compare these two they are comparing their skills...both are 6'6, can jump, have a knack to score in the toughest situations, will to win, hit big game shots, all-around ball player...if you ask me they both have their talents that the other cant do...for instance jordan never had the handles or had the range the kobe has...kobe doesnt have the same post up game that mike had...we can go back and forth on stats all day but at the end of the day thats not gonna prove anything...sure jordan had three championships...did you ever realize who was holdin him? jeff hornacek, joe dumars, john stockton, byron russell...these players did not have the athletic ability nor the height to hold jordan...im not sayin that anyone could hold him but try goin against the two guards in todays game...jordan was a beast but to say kobe is overrated is ridiculous...people always say jordan is better no matter what any other player does, i have learned to accept that...ask yourself, what can jordan do on the court that kobe cant? people say make their teammates better...who in the hell did he make better, sure kerr and paxson hit a couple of big shots but their game was shooting and thats what they did...jordan just allowed them to shoot without defenders in their face...he didnt make them better he just allowed them free opportunities...just think about it

First, enough of MJ... when he was playing ofcourse everyone loves him... he is the greatest... this is another era of basketball. MJ can't play Kobe now can he? Kobe is good and probably ONE of the best players right now (try 81 pts). (wade, dirk, nash, arenas) Shaq is over.

Soooooooooooo when he does prove it to everybody, he will have beat even greater odds.Because he didn't start in 96/97 because he was eighteen.Back then 18 yr olds didn't step into the L and just start.(especially on the LAKERS).But the next year at 19 he was already won of the top players in the league and a ALLSTAR.So keep "destroying him" all your really doing is making his legacy greater.
thanks................................................
