I have a cable modem downstairs, my pc is upstairs. I have a wireless G Router and a wireless receiver in the usb of my pc.
The instructions for the router state the router must be wired to the pc and the modem? I need a wireless connection from the modem to the pc? Any help@?

Because you have to configure the wireless features on the router before it will begin to broadcast a wireless signal, the every first time you install the router, you have to be connect to it with a cable. (Sorry). So you may have to physically move the PC next to the router long enough to set everything up. Once you have it set up and it is broadcasting, then you an move the PC away from the router and will no longer need the cable.

Be warned, however, that is the router were to crash and stop boradcasting, you would have to move the PC back down by the router an reconnect with a cable to set up back up.

the instructions say that because thats the best way to initially set up the router. if your pc is already connected to the wireless router (assuming you already installed the software for the wireless card for your PC and you're actually getting a connection) you can go ahead and login to the router and change the settings that way (i.e password, IP adresses, etc). If that doesn't work and you don't have a wireless connection you're going to have to get that PC hooked up to the router and changed the setting that way. Hope that helps

Shift the Wireless G router to ground floor!
modem to Router RJ45. .
PC upstairs received wireless data !

make sure the ethernet cable is going from the backof your modem to the inport of your router , make sure any drivers for the usb reciver are installed , a icon will appear in your task bar looking for the wireless connection , simply right click chooose view avaliable connections and hit connect
