CO2 levels are currently at 380 ppm, highest levels in the last 650 million years. Highest levels before were peaks of 290 ppm, lowest were troughs of 240 ppm corresponding with ice ages. CO2 levels correlate directly with temperature. High atmospheric CO2 levels started to upturn in the last 50 years. 21 of the 25 hottest years recorded have happened since 1980. The vast majority of the worlds' scientists agree that humans greenhouse gas emissions contribute to the problem and that we could reverse the trend.
This evidence is not enough to convince some of you who seem to think it's about politics and not science.
So my question to you is what scientific evidence WOULD convince you that the elevated greenhouse gas levels in the atmosphere and elevated global temps are due in part to humans?

Dear James; Science is what I'm talking about and it didn't come from Al Gore. Try reading the following; http://www.ucsusa.org/global_warming/science/Fingerprints.html Also, my conclusion isn't based on consensus. It's based on science, the consensus of the world's scientists agree with this point. You know probably 95% of the time when scientists reach a consensus they're right about it. Try reading the following about publications on the topic over a ten year span and you tell me where the facts are wrong. By the way, no need to use ad hominem attacks, you can try to persuade me with facts and reason, if you're up to it that is...

Honestly, I don't know what you could say to them to get them to believe it. Bush himself acknowledged that there are things humans can do to cut down their contribution to the global environmental problem, but if that didn't get them to listen, nothing will.

Well actualy what you just proved, is that co2 levels are higher.
now prove high co2 levels cause global warming.
We know it was hotter than it is now, before the Lil Ice Age.
They used to grow grapes in Britian, something they can not do now, because it is not hot enough.
We only have temp records of the last 200 years.
Now I agree we need to do something about the high co2 levels.
But there are to many unanswered questions, for anyone to be making absolute statements.
We still do not know what caused the warming period after the Dark Ages, and we do not know what caused the lil ice age.
We do not know why antarctica is getting colder, while arctica is getting warmer.
We do not know what effects the solar cycle has on earth temp, we just know the solar cycle is near a high point right now.

Prove that climate change hasn't happened naturally forever. Tell me why the 1940's and the middle ages, were hotter than it is now. Why has the temperature dropped dropped over the last 4 yrs. Don't use a politician as a front man. Convince the rest of the scientific world that humans are the cause. Take pictures of yourself homeless and walking because your house and car are the reasons for the change to show that you are 100% behind this doctrine that Al Gore preaches.

Science! I wasn't aware that CONSENSUS was science. When I grew up Science was demonstrable. If a human breathes water, he dies. No consensus. Hard science. The human lung cannot process oxygen from water, science.
You want to convince me? Show me the fossil record from 1000 A.D. that has factories, automobiles and Gulfstream 5's. I'm only asking for 1000+ years ago, not millions, tough guy. The fossils must be there, because we had 300 years of temperatures that were 5 degrees CENTIGRADE higher than they are now.
Listen, brain dead robot, in the mid seventies your ilk was talking about man-made global cooling during the first ever Earth Day.

In the 60's chemical polution was met with the same opposition. It's a matter of time before it comes under control. About other country's following is another matter. America couldn't understand how DDT sprayed on cotton could kill eagle eggs. Same for this matter, the hardest thing for a human to do is CHANGE, or accept the phylosophy to change. As congress and senate and others fade out and younger comes in, change will come with it. I'm not stressing over what others believe. Do your part and the majority will follow.

The snow climates being 75 degrees or more through the winter instead of
Colorado and New York having record snow and
Arizona and Hawaii hitting an all time low of 44 and 54 degrees.
Also the news today is that Gore the global warming guru
uses enough electricity and gas in one month as 20 families use in one year. IF he were so concerned why doesn't he cut back???
THEN I might believe it is serious

Tell this dribble to those that are snowed under these last four months, golbal warming is a laugh, what a 1/2 of 1 degree in the last 200 years and we did it? Mother nature will take care of her own, always has always will! i bet you and Kookoo jumped on the Valdez band wagon too! Now look at it! Pure as it ever was! Hell, Mt. St. Helens put more co2 and pollutants in the air than Mankind has ever done in total!

I agree with Slappy's Evil Twin, we need better understanding of the complete system before we start running around claiming that we've caused the mess.
Am I willing to wait 20-30 years to learn more? Absolutely. The Earth is not about to become inhospitable anytime soon and I think that it's important that we have a better understanding of the actual problem we before we head off half-****** solution that could be distinctly off base.

Take a deep breath; but don't exhale cause of the CO2 emissions.
I don't deny humans, cows, cars et al. contribute to climate change.
There have been heat waves and ice ages cycling on this planet for all of recorded history and prolly well before history existed.
So before you tell people what they need to do; can you be so sure that what you are suggesting will:
1-Help
2-Stop Warming or Cooling or whatever ill you think needs to be stopped.

You worldwide warming nut jobs fairly get to me. the first public of scientists?? Please! for one and all which claims worldwide warming is a actuality there is two who say this is a lie. you may desire to be speaking with regard to the overpowering majority at scientists on the UN. pass to NASA's information superhighway web site and notice each and all of the errors they have admitted making with regard to the ice caps, they do no longer seem to be melting, there is extra ice now then ten yrs in the past, with regard to the favourite twelve months, which they ignored by utilising 60 yrs, and the errors they made with regard to the the warming of the planet by utilising a million/2 degree in the previous 10 yrs. seems the planet has easily cooled by utilising very practically one finished degree over the final 10 yrs. and that i examine that checklist alongside time in the past. this is in line with a checklist on climate replace filed by utilising the so called scientists on the UN.

Fair enough. The day that you can tell the rain to stop I will believe it. The day that you can tell the oceans to stop making waves I will believe it. The day you tell the volcano to stop I will believe it. The day you tell the wind to stop blowing I will believe it. The day you tell the sun to move away from the earth because it is too hot I will believe it. You need a reality check about nature. This world has been heating and cooling for billions of years whether we like it or not. The hubris of man to think he can possible influence something we can't possibly understand.
