A spark arrester is a silencer that has either a screen or mechanical device that prevents sparks or flame from exiting the exhaust. Which is redundant on a two stroke since it's a wet exhaust, but none the less required to ride on most public lands.

If your only going to repack one, do the Answer. Then your covered no matter where you ride. Consider using Silent Sport packing when you do the job. I've had much better luck with it than 'traditional' packing.

You might want to consider getting an FMF Turbine Core II S/A silencer to match up with your pipe. IMHO it's a better piece than either the Acerbis or Answer, will give you better performance and hold up better in the long run.

Nice bike! A silencer simply quiets the exhaust racket. A spark arrester is a wire screen that goes in the end cap and is required in most states for off road/ trail riding. Silencer only will give a slight performance advantage.

You may want to keep both! Or it will mess up and cause too little back pressure and affect the performance.
