Just had a blood test from my doctor and they have informed me I have a abnormal high white cell count. I am 24 weeks pregnant and they did the test to rule out anemia.
The doctor asked if I was in pain or anything but I am not to my knowledge with any infection.
What will happen now? I have to drop urine sample to them to be sent..if that comes back ok does it mean I am very ill or is it nothing to be worried about?! Thanks to all.

One time I had this but it wasn't when I was pregnant. My doctor told me that it could mean that I was getting over an infection. He advised me to retest in two weeks and see if the count dropped. I went back and the count had dropped after two weeks. Sometimes this happens if you had or are fighting an infection. Ask about a retest and try not to worry too much. Good luck hope this helps.

The white cell count like any thing in medicine alone dosn`t mean anything, you need another sintoms or signs in the fisical examination in order to have a proper diagnosis. There is many explanations for the increse of the levels in the count of white cell like stress or even the intense exercise without a diseases. Sorry for my english.

white counts can go up from stress, if you do not feel sick try to relax. this should be followed up on however. a chronically elevated white count should be evaluated by a board certifed hematologist
