I have been married to a military man for 10 years and went through several LONG deployments and not once cheated until recently. He went to Iraq for 18 months. I never thought in a million years I would EVER do that to him and coulndt believe myslef after I did it. I wasnt myself, emotionally and yes, I was lonely and desired attention. It dont make it right, but thats why. You asked, I answered.

I saw your question over in Military and I wanted to answer it over there but I had to go get DD from school and couldn't get to it.

It seems to me from the first few answers over there you hit a nerve with some people. There is sometimes this attitude with some spouses that if your husband isn't gone as long as mine is you don't have the right to complain. It doesn't make sense and it isn't very helpful because someone is always gone longer and people deal with absences differently.

It could be that the Navy wife who e-mailed you deals with absence by cheating. There are some who do. Both the men and the women. They don't often have long marriages just like anyone else who cheats.

It's also possible that you touched a nerve and she was trying to get across the idea that if you can't handle 2 days apart or the week each month you might be facing, then cheat because we have the reputation of cheating during 3, 6, 9, 12, 18 months apart all the time.

I'm not saying it makes sense. And it sure as heck makes the rest of us look bad. But you've received some very candid answers here from other military wives. So you can see that not all of us cheat. 15 years as a Navy wife and I hope never to be so tempted.

I have a issue with this i was a marine wife for 10 years and never cheated on my husband. Some people dont have honor and dignity.I mean most military men or women are away defending our freedom and they get repayed by having their wife bang someone else.My husband was gone for 1 year a whole year and i focused on our family and the life i wanted to share so not all military wives cheat.Just the trifling ones.i would like to add that if you get lonely buy a viberator. The military men can call home there is email.

HELL NO! My husband's been gone a year (just in training, but gone from home a year nonetheless), and I have NEVER ONCE CHEATED on him. That's sickening, and she ought to be ashamed of herself. So should any othe rmilitary wife that does it.

Granted, there are a lot of our spouses who say "What happens when I'm gone stays there," and cheat while they're away also. Howveer, I don't think that's right either.

It's a shame, and it's sick. Thankfully, my husband & I have a stronger marriage than that.

I'm a Navy wife but I respect and love my husband. I would never cheat. Regardless for how long he may be gone.

No, it's not true with all wives, but it can be difficult, especially when you are lonely. I would suggest staying away from 'old flames', and doing things you like to do; join a health club or something; take up yoga; get a job. Please don't cheat. It makes things so much harder. I speak from experience. If you have any feelings for your husband whatsoever, don't. It will confuse and make everything more difficult.

This is such a generalisation....not all people cheat and the navy wife who emailed you, has no morals or sense of loyalty to her husband.

No the only reason in spouse cheats is because they have no moral character. Thousands of military wives would condradict the navy s-l-u-t that tells you to just cheat.

Wow, that is really pathetic. Think about your husband and what he is going through and where he is. You married him, you should be faithful to him. Exspecially being a military wife. You think that they all would have better scrupples than that.
