Don't use gimmicks, fancy language that you normally do not use, a "humorous" approach, or any attention getting device that could backfire. Keep it simple, something like...
Because I believe you would find me to be an efficient, experienced and dedicated intern, I am applying for the position at..name of company.

Gary S said it the best, be truthful and honest, you do not want to be cute. Applying for a job is serious and you want to treat it seriously.
