I have been pondering this type of career and although I do not think I have the aptitude for sales, it's medicine, everyone needs medicine right? I am good at presentations and I'm currently in school getting my Business Management degree. What is a day like in that profession? What good companies are there to try to work for? Any in Topeka, Kansas/KC, Missouri area? I have looked and have seen that Pfizer and Sanofi Aventis are in this area. I understand that this is also a highly competitive career path. Thanks for any info!!

You have to be good with vocabulary. The sales rep HAS to know more about the drug, its affects on the body, etc than the Doctor. So you have to be able to throw those big medical terms around like you invented them. It also helps if you look good and are in good physical shape. Your degree can be a basic business degree from a good school. The average day consists of waking up when you feel like it, going to see a few Doctors to see if they would like more samples, get validated, go home do a few reports so that the next day you can catch a ballgame, or stay out partying all night, or whatever. My Brother is a rep for a very reputable firm, he works about 16 hours per week and brings in 6 figures, AND bonuses. He does travel a bit and has to give lectures to specialists so he's in front of 100's of doctors so that is the only down side.
