He had a personality transplant the second the ceremony was over. He treated me like I was a possesion not a person, quit his job and started drinking heavily. The night he came home drunk (again) trashed the flat and threatened both me, my 2 year old son and our unborn child, I called the police and got us all the hell out of there.

Really? You're happy? Celebrating your failure? Wow. Sorry to hear you were unable to make it work.

EDIT: Welcome to the club? Congrats? And people wonder why we have a 50% (and rising) divorce rate.

OK, he sounds like he's not a nice guy right now. Everything you described about him is classic alcoholic and/or addiction behavior. Did you try to get him into counseling or have him commited? I understand that you couldn't physically stay in the house with him endangering you and the kids. But, did you make any effort whatsoever to remember your vow of in sickness and in health? Because you seem to have run out on him in a sickness.

Allllllright, welcome to the club.I know how you feel, congratulations! I hope you find what you are looking for.Now that you are divorced and people knows, you will have an invisible sign in your forehead saying "I'm available" or "hey you,hit on me" but....try to be alone for a while, enjoy the pleasures of life without somebody trying to pull you back. And again,Congratulations!

Congulations sweetie appearly you deserved it! Have lots of fun, try to stay out of trouble and take the advice my dad give me.
Marriage the first time is an honest mistake, marriage the second is for for the stupid.

Good for you.
I am just getting the papers served and I am a little sad that this is the way it has to end. How long did your divorce take to be finalized.
Anyways good for you.
