The 5th dimension? Could be several things. If your talking about string theory, it is one of the possible spacial dimensions that is "curled up" and tiny so we don't see it.

In some forms of cosmology philosophy it might be the "direction" that different and perhaps "parallel" universes exist. A flash demo up to 10 dimensions can be found at the provided link. It is fun to watch but a little hard to wrap ones head around.

It was this totally awesome singing group in the 1970s.
