Anything that happens to YOU is important to YOU!!!
Recorded experiences are to be thought about ... but not as important as something you actually do for yourself ..... this question is a little like the one involving being involved in a sports game yourself ... or just being a spectator ...one is personal experience, the other is vicarious ...

To the individual life experience is more important.
To future generations recorded experiences are more important.

I think that they should be given equal weight. Malcolm X, for example, used to really irritate me because he was such an intelligent man, but I felt like he gave NO merit to anything except his personal experiences. It is important to be open-minded. You aren't the only one with experience, so perhaps you should consider the experiences/opinions of others as well.

No, because when you die, people aren't going to ask "how did they die" they are going to ask "how did they live". Not "what did they gain in life", but " what did they give back"
