I think anything passed 36 is considered "full term" ...so you should be good to go..
My friend had a premie at like 32 I think...and his lungs were fine.
You should be ok mamma.
Congratulations!!

38 weeks is full term and 37 weeks may be safe (your doctor can give you the definite answer to that). When I was pg for my son I had pre-eclampsia and they tested lung maturity with the ultrasound. They looked at the size and other signs that they knew to look for and also the swallow reflex. I could have been induced at 36 weeks if it was needed but we waited until 37 weeks and 5 days. He was healthy and beautiful.
Just curious - how can they determine lung maturity via amnio? Isn't it more risky than an ultrasound?

37 weeks should be fine. If you went into labor on your own, they'd let the baby come, so I don't see too much reason to worry. I was born at 36 weeks - my mom had an emergency C-section - and my lungs were fully matured.
Good luck with your new little one. I hope everything goes smoothly for you!

Your baby should be fine I was induced at 37 weeks and my baby girl was as healthy as a 40 week baby.
I was induced for medical reasons( I had Obstetric Cholestases which causes still birth in babies if delivered after 37 weeks).
Good Luck and I am sure all will go well for you and baby.

My son was born at 36 weeks(or 35 if you ask a diff doc) and his were almost perfect. They kept him on oxygen for 2 days just in case, so I bet one more week would have made them as good as they were going to get. My doctor will induce if you choose at 38 weeks, so you should be fine. If they aren't yet, just rest at home and follow your doctor's instructions on when to call and counting kicks. Good luck.
