Could be a few things, most likely is bad memory. If you have 2 slots filled with memory, try taking one out and restart the pc. If that doesnt work, swap the one you just pulled and try again.....
A bad power supply would leave your mobo fried, I had this happen recently....when they go they tend to take out the whole computer, frying everything attached, so hopefully its only a bad memory module.....
As for heat, invest in a can of compressed air from your local walmart to blow the crud off of the heat sink. Make sure you dont use the air to spin the fan, you can actually exceed the rpms its designed to reach and burn up the bearings.......
Try an online scanner, to check for viruses....

One of these should work for you, hope its nothing bad!

Is the fan on your power supply still spinning at the back of the computer box? If not, it will cause the power supply to overheat and turn off in a few minutes after you boot it up. The processor cooling fan will also cause it to cut off, but it will usually slow down for a while first. You can't see that one, either, without removing the cover.

Do yourself a favor and as soon as the computer begins reading your RAM and before the Microsoft Flag window appears, tap, tap, tap furiously away on the F8 key until you get the black board message about what choice you want to make and chose the line that says, "restore to a previous start up when the system worked correctly."
It may be that I did not type the wording exactly as it appears when you see the list to Start in the Safe Mode, etc. the line something like what I wrote should be in the list below the Safe Mode choice.

It could be a heat sink or your fan filled with dust. Open it up and clean it up. Make sure your processor is not loose. Check your fans and make sure there spinning.
