my car cant pas smog ca test to much troubles i dont think its my catalytic converter though it seems tonoy be getting hot enough also my idle wont kick in what can be wron with my car a 1991 toyota corrolla dx help please time is running out for me dang d.m.v thanx

control loop refers to when the engine comes up to temp. >150F. and engine speed is >30 mph. then 02 sensor and computer take over fuel management. So check 02 sensor as well as EGR (exhaust gas recirculation system). If costs to fix exceeds a certain amount you may get an exemption form the SMOG referee. Ask if you qualify from the person who did your test.

Is the car mechanically sound. Does it have good compression ? Have you made sure you have a clean air filter in the car with new spark plugs and a good distributor cap and rotor? Maybe you have an airleak in the intake maifold some where.
