I maintain a dial up connection in my settings to my current ADSL Internet Provider so that in the unlikely event that ADSL goes down I can at least dial in and check the support page for the ISP either to check the status or to get support numbers and of course check my email.
Most ISP's still have servers specifically for Dial Up so that they can maintain some business resillience should there be any unforseen problems

yes. many people still do have dialup connection.
Because just for checking mails a dialup conection is sufficient and a lot cheaper.

We haven't had dial up for two years, I think two. Anyway, some broadband services are CHEAPER than Dial up - I think the UK is planned to have everyone on broadband by 2010?? Something like that.
woo!

Yes! I live so far out of town, they don't even offer anything but dial-up. Luckily I can do my surfing at work!
