I ask this question , because American Idol guy Simon Cowell told Jennifer Hudson she will never make it, now she is an Academy Award winner.

I would use that as motivation. I can be very competitive, and I always like to push myself to show what I am capable of. If someone told me that I could not do something, then I would do what I can to prove them wrong. If you want something, you go after it, do not let anyone tell you any different!

This is a great question!

This will not always movitivate people.

Some people are impacted by what others think. They may use the comment as a challenge and go after something with a vengence.

Other people could care less what another person thinks and are not influenced by others. Or they could see through a statement a realize that somebody is trying to control them or influence them.

Depends on the person.

I don't watch American Idol, but my guess is that Jennifer probably always wanted to be successfull and was determined and passionate about it.

It depends on who says it. Some people who say things like that, I take with a grain of salt. It is all up to you, the person, and the will it takes. If you let someone tell you that and you take it to heart, you may let it get to you and you may not try as hard, or some people may try harder to prove them wrong.

Some people grow up with the worst conditions and use that as an excuse on not making it in life, where others say they are not going to be that way and find a better way out of life. It is determination and the will to survive and the will to the best and be the best you can be. It is what road God gives you and what road you decide to take that will lead you where you are today. We make our decisions as we grow older and sometimes we make mistakes. I am so glad Jennifer Hudson has come as far as she has. She has determination and strength and courage and the support of many.

I try to pray daily to help me in my life. I see it work in people everyday. Bless you and your family.

Depends on the person.

Sometimes I get mad and would not do anything after that, sometimes i get arrogant and want to better what i did. i would not consider it a motivation even if i did a great job cuz I was mad.

Its always nice to encourage people in a nicer way, thats why some people are leaders.

On E! TV when Ryan Seacrest was interviewing her, it should a clip of what Simon said and it was rather encouraging. But, I have no doubt that he probably did say that! haha.

I think that it was make me feel like "Oh yeah!? Let me prove it to you" and then my motivation would be out of spite. On the other hand, if they were right, I'd probably be like Eeyore and be like "Oh well, they're right... I guess..."

Just goes to show you that you can't let other people's opinions divert you from your dream. History is full of people that could have been discouraged but perservered because they believed in themselves. I would be motivated to prove people wrong if I was told I couldn't do it-my answer would be Watch me!!

It all depends on who is saying I can't do it. If that person really knows what they're talking about and has power in a given situation, then it might be wise to try doing something else. Otherwise, I'll just try to prove them wrong.

It doesn't matter if the person telling me I couldn't do it was better or worse at the thing I was attempting. It would only motivate me to prove them wrong.

When someone tells me I can't do something it motivates me to prove them wrong and prove to myself that I can do it. That makes it more challenging to do better.
